How To Batch Write Blogs For Your Small Business, Without AI
We spend so much time fixating on social media that we tend to neglect the other parts of our business, especially the parts we PAY FOR. Like our website subscription.
Before I had been putting off blogs for eons now because I worried I had nothing to say or had too much to say and didn’t know how to put it into words. I was also worried that people wouldn’t read the blogs in the first place.
Please remember that writing blogs is one of the best ways to optimise your website for SEO and getting found, so even if people don’t read them, it’s STILL great for your business. Think of your future clients. They may not read the blogs, but at least they’ll find you.
Why Blog Content Still Matters in 2025
As photographers, especially in the UK and creative industries, we often hear that "blogging is dead." But it is far from it. Blogging continues to be one of the best tools for organic reach and long-term visibility.
Unlike Instagram, which disappears after 24–48 hours in the feed, your blog can rank for years on Google. Blog posts on your photography website can target specific keyword phrases like:
“Cardiff wedding photographer”
“documentary-style photography tips”
“how to start a photography business in the UK”
“photography mentorship for beginners”
“photography courses for wedding photographers”
If you’re serious about photography education and reaching new clients or students, blog content is non-negotiable.
SEO and Blog Writing Go Hand in Hand
Every time you write a blog post with a relevant title, clear structure, keywords and helpful information, you increase your chances of being found by people actively searching for what you offer.
A few simple SEO wins for blog writing include:
Use headings (H1, H2, H3) to break up content
Mention your location if relevant (like “photography education UK”)
Use internal links to other blogs or service pages on your site
Add alt text to your images
Make sure your blog is at least 1,000 words for depth
Your website is your home base. Social media may change. Algorithms may shift. But your blog is yours. You. Own. It. (Guuuurl)
How Blogging Builds Trust With Clients and Students
When potential clients or students land on your website and find thoughtful, personal blog posts that share your approach, personality, and process, it builds trust.
It shows that:
You’re active in your business
You care about your clients' experience
You’re generous with your knowledge
You’re a professional with real-world experience
Whether you're offering wedding photography or running a photography course or mentorship programme, blogs help people connect with you before they even say hello.
So how did I batch write 30 blogs (imperfect ones, but still, the bones of the blog!) in one hour?
Instagram captions.
I copy and pasted longer captions that I’d written on social media, and expanded on them if need be. You might be nodding along if you also go to upload a reel or carousel or static post and freeze…then the caption gods take over and you are off on one. Don’t let that writing goodness go to waste.
Social media tends to be a daily fixation and we put so much energy into it but I thought, well if I’ve put as much energy in as I said I have, then there must be some gold in there too. So I hopped onto the computer, opened up instagram on the desktop (this will make it SO much easier) and went through my feed and copy and pasted my more thought out captions, then added a little bit more if I needed to. Of course I’ve added in extra pictures and sorted out the SEO which takes a little longer, but the bones of each of the 30 blogs are done and ready.
Step-by-Step: How to Turn Instagram Captions Into Blogs
Step 1: Keep posting to Instagram
Focus on adding value and sharing more thoughtful captions, even short reflections or behind-the-scenes notes.
Step 2: Open Instagram on your desktop
This makes copying and pasting easier and allows you to scan your feed with fresh eyes.
Step 3: Choose captions that can be expanded
Look for posts with personal stories, client insights, tips, or emotional reflections. Anything that made people comment or message you.
Step 4: Paste into a document
Either paste multiple captions into one working doc or start a new draft blog post for each one.
Step 5: Add a few extra lines of context
Write an intro and outro. Add a bit of backstory. Include a CTA (call to action) at the end like "Want to book a session?" or "Interested in photography mentoring?"
Step 6: Optimise for SEO
Add relevant keywords (like your service, location or niche), proper headings, internal links, and images.
Step 7: Save as drafts
Don’t stress about publishing all 30 at once. Spread them out weekly or monthly to keep your site updated.
Photography Blog Topic Ideas That Practically Write Themselves
When you’re stuck for blog ideas, start here:
Client testimonials and stories
Behind the scenes of a session or wedding
Why you love certain locations or venues
FAQ-style blogs (How to book, what to wear, what to expect)
Tips for clients (best times of day to shoot, how to prep, etc.)
Lessons learned from recent work
Your journey as a photographer / small business owner
Extra Tip: Repost Your Best IG Content
Instagram doesn’t show your content to everyone. Reposting your most popular captions or stories after a few weeks is a smart move. Update the caption slightly or use a new image.
No one will notice or care — and if they do, it just means your words were worth reading twice.
Final Thoughts: Blogging Without AI Is Still Worth It
You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need to have perfect grammar or flashy visuals. You just need to show up, use what you already have, and repurpose with purpose (I’m proud of that one).
Batching blogs without AI might take a bit of effort, but it’s authentic. It’s yours. And it works.
